Description
The gate piers, gates, and flanking walls at the entrance to Middleton Hall date from the early 19th century. They consist of a pair of v-jointed ashlar gate piers that are 3 metres high, square in shape, and topped with depressed pyramidal caps. The attached flanking walls are made of squared limestone, curving outwards and downwards, and feature saddleback copings. These walls are terminated by lower versions of the central piers. The gate piers support heavy ornamental cast iron gates. This structure is listed for its group value.
