Description
Middleton Hall is a small country house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from ashlar gritstone and features twin hipped roofs covered with Welsh slate, which are concealed by a parapet. The house has a central ridge stack that includes four linked octagonal stone chimneys with moulded caps. The building has an irregular plan, with a rectangular main range from which a single-storey and a two-storey contemporary range extend westward, along with some minor additions.
The south elevation is two storeys high and consists of five bays. The central bay is advanced and supported by a triple pointed-arched open porch that has a stepped approach. Above the arches is a moulded string course, and there is a 5-light chamfered mullioned window on the first floor. The parapet features blind balustrading. The flanking bays contain mullioned and transomed windows set within moulded surrounds, with casements that include glazing bars. Octagonal corner turrets rise above the parapet. The central doorway within the porch has a moulded architrave, a panelled door, and flanking single light casements with glazing bars.
