Description

Running Hill House and Running Hill Head Farmhouse are a farmhouse, now divided into two separate houses, dating from the late 18th century, with a 20th-century addition. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a roof of graduated stone slates. It has a single-depth plan and two storeys, extending over a total of four bays. Quoins are present. The first bay is recessed and contains a three-light first-floor window and a 20th-century lean-to extension that obscures the ground floor. A doorway is located in the third bay, framed by a square-cut surround. There are two four-light windows on the ground floor to the left, featuring recessed chamfered mullions, and a four-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window to the right. The first floor windows are four-light, four-light, and five-light, all with recessed flat-faced mullions. Gable windows are one-light and two-light, also with recessed flat-faced mullions. Ridge chimney stacks are a feature of the roof.
