Description
Hawkslee House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and late 20th century. It is constructed of brick with a rendered front and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with brick gable chimneys. The rear wall includes some stonework and stone quoins. The building has a symmetrical front with two storeys and two windows, as well as attic windows in the end gables. The entrance features a late 20th-century door. Inside, there are two chamfered oak beams in the parlour and an open-well staircase from the 17th century leading to the first and second floors, which has shaped newels and a moulded square rail, along with late 20th-century balusters. The attic contains a good arch-braced oak truss.
