Description
Stanton Wesleyan Reform Church is a Wesleyan Chapel built in 1829, with 20th-century additions and alterations. The building is constructed of coursed squared gritstone, featuring rock-faced stone in the addition, with gritstone dressings and chamfered quoins. It has a plinth and a plain band at the eaves level, topped with plain tile roofs that have stone coped gables and moulded kneelers. The church is designed in a two bays by three bays layout, with an addition at the north-east corner.
The central entrance features a semi-circular headed reeded doorcase with a fluted keystone, leading to a 20th-century studded wooden door and a plain fanlight. Flanking the entrance are tall semi-circular headed windows adorned with early 20th-century coloured glass. Above the entrance, there is a pedimented gable with an oval plaque inscribed 'WESLEYAN REFORM CHAPEL 1829' and a thin ventilation hole. The rear elevation includes semi-circular headed windows and a circular opening in the gable.
Attached to the west side of the front facade is a low wall with chamfered copings and elaborate iron railings. This wall and the railings extend around the front of the building, stepping upwards to the east. The stone gate piers have cut away corners, and there is a central gate topped with a scrolled lantern arch.
