Description

The terrace retaining walls and steps located to the east of Stanton Hall were likely built around 1799. They are constructed from coursed squared gritstone, featuring gritstone dressings. There are two retaining walls, one positioned above the other, both topped with flat copings and quoins. At the northern end of each wall, there is a flight of steps, flanked by urns that are fluted in the body and gadrooned at the bases and tops. Similar urns are also found at the southern end of each wall. These structures are included in the listing for their group value context.
