Description
Gould Cottage is a house built in 1664 and refronted in 1900. It features coursed squared gritstone dressings and quoins, with a plain tile roof that has stone gable ends and ridge stacks, as well as stone coped gables with plain kneelers. The building has three bays and two storeys. The entrance is marked by a chamfered flush quoined doorcase with a lintel inscribed with "MT 1900" and a semi-circular tympanum above, which has a hoodmould inscribed with "EGL 1664". The door is a 20th-century plank door with a plain thin overlight. On either side of the door are 20th-century 3-light chamfered mullion windows, with a similar 2-light window located to the east. Above the door are similar windows arranged in the same way, along with another 2-light chamfered mullion window. All the windows have fixed or casement leaded lights. This listing is included for its group value only.
