Description

Yew Tree Cottage is a house built in 1759, with early 19th century and 20th century alterations. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone, featuring gritstone dressings and quoins. The roof is made of plain tiles with a stone ridge, and there is a stone stack at the west gable end as well as a ridge stack. The gable is coped with moulded kneelers on the west side.

The cottage has two storeys and two bays. The entrance features a flush quoined doorcase with a large, moulded, bracketed stone hood above a glazed panelled door. The lintel above the door is inscribed with 'WPT'. To the east of the door, there is a 2-light flush mullion window with plain sashes, followed by a 20th century window in a flush surround with casements. A similar smaller window is located further east. Above the door, there is a datestone with a dripmould inscribed 'WWA 1759'. To the east, there are two additional 2-light flush mullion windows with plain sashes. The west gable wall features two raised single light windows below and a round window above, which has a raised fillet around its edge.
