Description
Artis Farmhouse and the attached barn are located on Main Street in Great Hucklow. This building dates from the mid-18th century and features a continuous roof. The structure is built from coursed squared gritstone, with painted stone dressings and gritstone quoins. The farmhouse and barn have 20th-century concrete tile roofs, with ridged tiles on the house. The gable ends have moulded stone copings and kneelers, and there are stone stacks at the gable ends and on the ridge.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of three bays, while the barn has two bays. The north and south elevations feature three-light flush mullion windows with two-pane casements. In between these, there is a two-light flush mullion window with an adjoining 19th-century flush doorcase that has a bracketed stone hood on the north side. On the south side, there is an original flush doorcase beneath a bracketed porch roof, leading to a plank door. Above, there are three recessed and chamfered three-light mullion windows. The attached barn to the south has various doors and windows below, with a first-floor door and a small hayloft door located above.
