Description
The Methodist Chapel, built in 1806, is a single-storey structure located on Dirty Lane in Great Hucklow. It features rendered stone with gritstone dressings and has a stone plinth. The chapel is topped with a stone slate roof that has bracketed eaves, while a slate roof covers the western lean-to.
The building has two bays and a central entrance with a semi-circular headed doorcase, which includes double doors and a traceried fanlight above. On either side of the entrance are semi-circular headed glazing bar sashes set in ashlar surrounds. To the west, there is a smaller window in the lean-to that matches the style of the main windows.
Prominently displayed on the pedimented gable, which is set on corner blocks, is a central stone plaque with concave corners that reads 'The Methodist Chapel AD 1806'. The rear elevation facing the street features two tall semi-circular headed small pane windows, along with a similar smaller window and a semi-circular headed door leading to the western lean-to.
