Description
Stanley House and the attached stableblock is a farmhouse that has been incorporated into the house, dating from 1781 and the early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. It features a 20th-century concrete tile roof with stone gable end stacks on the house, while the stableblock has a stone slate roof. The layout consists of a double range plan with the stableblock attached to the rear range.
The house is a three-bay structure with two storeys. There are steps leading up to a central doorcase that has a moulded, bracketed stone hood. The panelled door is topped by a plain overlight. On either side of the door, there are glazing bar sash windows in raised plain surrounds, with three similar windows above on the second storey. The stableblock, set back to the west, features a central segmental-headed quoined archway that is now glazed, with a keystone inscribed 'RC 1781'. There are 20th-century windows on either side of the archway, with two similar windows above.
