Description
Taddington Field Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the 18th century and expanded in 1839. It is constructed from rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and features plain tile roofs with stone gable end stacks. The building has an unequal L-plan and stands two storeys high. The south elevation consists of four bays, with a two-bay section from the 18th century set well back on the left. The central doorway has massive stone jambs and a lintel, leading to a plank door. On either side of the door are 2-light square section flush mullion windows, with a course dripmould above the door and windows. The first floor has two additional 2-light square section flush mullion windows. The larger 1839 block projects forward and features a return wall with a tall moulded doorcase, an elongated bracketed hood, and a panelled door with a rectangular overlight. Above is a glazing bar sash. The chimney stack is dated 1839. The south elevation of the 1839 block includes flush quoins and two glazing bar sashes in plain stone surrounds on each floor.
