Description

The stables located to the west of the Duke of York Inn were built in the 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared gritstone and feature rusticated quoins and coped gables with a Welsh slate roof. The building is a single storey with overlofts and has its gable end facing the street. There are two doorways with quoined surrounds, massive tooled lintels, and flat stone hoods, which are flanked by single light openings that generally have glazing bars. At the north end, there is a tall wagon doorway with a cambered timber lintel and planked doors. The stables are listed for their group value only.
