Description
The Sheepwash enclosure, located to the south-west of Holme Bridge, dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed from rubble limestone. It has an irregular D-shaped design, measuring approximately 13 meters in length, with a straight back wall to the north. The walls stand about 1.5 meters high. There are gate openings at both the west and east ends, with the eastern entrance featuring gritstone piers. Additionally, there is an opening to the south that provides access to the mill stream where sheep were doused, and a small recess hole in the wall was used for keeping salve.
