Description
Holme Bridge is a pack-horse bridge built in 1664, constructed from ashlar gritstone. It features a narrow design with five segmental arches and cutwaters that rise as pedestrian retreats. There is an offset band beneath the parapet made of deeply-coursed blocks with single-chamfered copings, and a cross-base at the apex of the downstream cutwater. The north approach includes stone bollards and a railing, while the south end has approach walls of a later date above two round arches. Holme Bridge is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, with Derbyshire County number 17.
