Description
The gateway with attached gate piers and plinth wall across the front of the Trustee Savings Bank dates from the mid-19th century. It features ashlar sandstone piers and a plinth wall, along with iron gates. The gate piers, located next to No.1 Bank House and to the right of the Trustee Savings Bank, are square in shape and topped with cornices and shallow pyramidal caps. The side gateway to No.1 Bank House has double gates on iron standards with urn finials. The gates include dog bars with fleur-de-lys finials and top rails adorned with two designs of Neo-classical-style finials. The plinth wall spans the bank's frontage, although the railings have been removed. This structure contributes to the setting of No.1 Bank House and the Trustee Savings Bank.
