Description
Dale Cottage and Tite Cottage are a pair of houses built in the mid-18th century. They are constructed from coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, featuring quoins, coved eaves, coped gables, and moulded kneelers. The buildings have intermediate and end ridge stacks, two of which are made of ashlar with moulded caps.
The cottages are two storeys high and consist of four bays, generally fitted with 2-light flush mullioned windows that have single glazing bar sashes and fixed four-paned lights. The ground floor has two openings that have been enlarged to accommodate glazing bar sashes. There are three doorways: one at the west end has a chamfered, quoined surround, a massive lintel, and a plain planked door. At the east end, there are a pair of doorways, one of which is blocked while the other contains a window.
