Description
The Old Parish Poorhouse is an 18th-century house that underwent some changes in the 19th century. It features a front made of coursed squared gritstone, with rendered rubble on the other sides, and includes quoins, plain gables, and both intermediate and end ashlar ridge stacks. The roof is covered with stone slates and plain clay tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall with three bays. It has two-light flush mullioned windows with semi-circular heads and keyblocks, and single glazing bar sashes. Above the doorway, there is a single light opening, both of which have semi-circular heads and keyblocks, while the doorway itself has a plain planked door. There is also a single-storey lean-to at the southwest end with a stone slated roof. This building was formerly used as the parish poorhouse.
