Description

This is a terrace of four cottages, now comprising three, located in Wooley’s Yard, Winster. The buildings date to the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The walls are constructed of rubble and coursed limestone, featuring gritstone dressings. Gable end and intermediate ridge stacks are made of stone and topped with Welsh slates and plain tiles. Originally single-bay cottages, they have two storeys with flush mullioned windows containing 2 lights. These windows now have 20th-century sashes and casements. Two upper floor windows have been raised to create gabled dormers at the north end. Doorways feature heavy lintels; one is blocked and replaced with a window and one has a quoined surround. The doorways now have 20th-century doors. The property is included on the list for group value.
