Description

Mayfield Cottage and Westfield Cottage are a pair of houses built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from irregularly coursed limestone with ashlar sandstone dressings and feature a tile roof. The houses are three stories tall, each having a central doorway and one window on each floor. The doorways have linked ashlar surrounds and consist of six fielded panels, with the topmost panels being glazed. The windows have painted projecting sills and ashlar surrounds, and they are fitted with horizontally-sliding casements that include glazing bars. Notably, the first-floor window of Mayfield Cottage, which is on the left, has a later bow window that extends below the original sill level. There is an ashlar end stack on the right side and a later stone end stack on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
