Description
Shuttle Hill Cottage is a pair of cottages built in 1744, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature large quoins and limestone dressings, topped with slate roofs. They have a large central stone ridge stack and are two storeys high, with two bays for each cottage.
The northern cottage, known as Rock Cottage, has a doorcase with a large stone lintel and a 20th-century plank door. It features a 2-light flush mullion window and a single light window in a flush surround on the ground floor, with similar windows above arranged in the same way.
The southern cottage, referred to as Town Hill, also has a doorcase to the north with a large stone lintel and a 20th-century plank door. Between the two doors, there is a datestone inscribed 'CBG 1744'. To the south, there are two inserted 20th-century casement windows of different sizes, with two similar windows above and a blocked 2-light flush mullion window situated between them.
