Description
This is a mid-18th century house, now divided into two cottages. A late 19th-century addition and alterations were also made. The building is constructed of coursed squared gritstone, with the eastern addition rendered. Gritstone dressings and raised quoins are present, with the 19th-century addition having a rock-faced finish. The roofs are concrete tile, with stone coped gables; the original 18th-century section and the 19th-century addition both have moulded kneelers.
The western cottage, Medway Cottage, has a raised quoined doorcase with a keystone above a 20th-century glazed plank door. To the west of the door is a 20th-century window within a raised surround, and to the east, a raised two-light square-section mullion window with 20th-century casements. Similar windows are above, in the same arrangement. The attached cottage to the east features an inserted 19th-century doorcase with a glazed-panelled door on the east side and a triple sash window within a raised surround, which was formerly mullioned, on the west side. Further east is the line of 18th-century quoins and a plain sash window in a flush surround relating to the 19th-century addition. Above, a 20th-century window sits within a formerly mullioned 18th-century surround to the west, and another sits in a 19th-century flush surround to the east.
