Description

The lime kiln, located 800 metres west of Town Shields Farmhouse, is a disused structure from the early 19th century. It is constructed from snecked sandstone with squared dressings. The kiln features a large two-cell design that is built partly into the bankside. It has battered front and return walls with squared quoins. Each cell includes a tall pointed opening and two segmental-arched pots on the rear wall.
