Description
This building is an outbuilding located to the north-east of Hill House, likely a former bastle-house, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. The walls are made of massive rubble and it has a slate roof. The front features two doorways and a narrow window, along with the remains of a blocked doorway and window at the first-floor level, which are obscured by ivy. The left gable has been rebuilt in squared rubble and includes a blocked first-floor door with a timber lintel. The rear elevation has a 20th-century pitching door above an older blocked opening. The interior has been significantly altered, but it retains two upper-cruck roof trusses with re-set collars.
