Description
No 20 High Street is a house dating from the first half of the 18th century, although it has earlier origins. It features a cruck frame, sandstone rubble walls, a pantile roof, and a brick stack. The layout is a right end-entry hearth-passage plan with two rooms. The building has two storeys and three windows on the first floor. There is a 19th-century board door to the right and two three-light Yorkshire sash windows to the left. On the first floor, there is one two-light and two three-light Yorkshire sash windows, with wooden lintels throughout. The ridge stack is located at the top of the building. Inside, a pair of crucks is visible in the left end wall. There is also a heck and witch post by the principal hearth, along with a small wall cupboard that suggests the position of a former fire window.
