Description
The building at 24 and 26 High Street, Helmsley, is a late 18th-century house that has been converted into two dwellings. It is constructed of squared, coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins on the right-hand side, and has a pantile roof and brick stacks. Originally built with a central hallway plan, the house was later divided into two separate dwellings. The two-storey elevation has two windows on the first floor. A 20th-century half-glazed door, set within a stone lintel, is flanked by two 3-light Yorkshire sash windows with stone sills and flat arches. The first floor features three matching 3-light Yorkshire sash windows. The roof is swept and has gable coping, shaped kneelers, and stacks at each end.
