Description
Slatehill House is a house that primarily dates from the late 18th century, with an older section attached. The main part is built of coursed, tooled sandstone, while the older section features weathered masonry. It has a pantiled roof with a stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. The main house is two storeys high and has two wide bays. The central entrance consists of a boarded door with an overlight, flanked by sash windows that have lost their bars and feature projecting cills.
To the right, there is a one-storey section that is concealed by an older building, which has small modern windows and a very steeply-pitched swept roof. A long, plain lean-to with similar windows extends from this section. The main house features block kneelers and chimneys with cornices at the ends.
On the rear elevation, there is a boarded door and very small flanking sash windows. The one-storey section on the left may be the original downhouse of a hearth-passage plan house, of which the main part on the right has been rebuilt.
