Description
Stonebeck Gate is an early 18th-century building that has undergone alterations. It is likely part of a longhouse type, although the downhouse section has mostly disappeared. The structure is made of coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a plinth. The roof is pantiled, with stone copings, kneelers, and chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and two wide bays.
On the right side, there is a lean-to entrance section that may have originally included a through-passage; it now has a 20th-century six-panel door. The windows are irregular, featuring one 19th-century sash window that has lost its intermediate bars, along with three plain casements. The left side has block kneelers, a corniced chimney, and a chimney on the right with a flat cap.
The south elevation includes a small chamfered fire window on the left. Other windows consist of three-light chamfered stone-mullioned casements, with some casements replaced by small early 19th-century sashes. A 20th-century lean-to addition to the east is not of special interest.
