Description

Old Woodbine is a house with an attached garage, dating from the early to mid-18th century, and may include parts of an earlier structure. It has been altered and extended over time. The building is constructed from herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a slate roof. The main house is low, two stories high, with a three-bay front, while the one-story extension has two bays.

The house has an off-centre board door set in a chamfered, quoined opening, topped with a chevron-tooled lintel. To the right, there is a two-light mullioned window in a chamfered surround, featuring large-pane glazing. An inserted window on the left end also has large-pane glazing, a tooled lintel, and a stone sill. The first-floor window on the left end is an altered three-light mullioned window. The gables are coped, with block kneelers and end corniced stacks. The extension includes garage doors and a coped left gable.

At the rear, there is a firewindow in a chamfered surround with a chevron-tooled lintel at the right end of the house. Other windows in the house are two-light horizontal sliding sashes with either 12 or 16 panes. Inside, the ground floor left room features a surviving inglenook fireplace, complete with a bressummer, a massive corbelled chimneypiece, and a spice cupboard. The garage extension is included for group value, while an outbuilding added to the right is not of special interest.
