Description

These are two cottages, originally a farmhouse, likely dating from the late 18th century, with alterations in the 19th century and subdivision in the 20th century. The building is constructed of herring-bone toolled sandstone, with a pantile roof, partially replaced with tiles. The two-storey, four-window front is taller on the right, with a lower one-storey range set back on the right side. A part-glazed door to number 1 is located in the one-storey range, while a 20th-century door provides access to number 2 at the lower end of the front. The windows at the lower end are twelve-pane sashes with a herring-bone toolled flat arch over the ground floor window. The remaining windows have bordered, herring-bone toolled lintels. The windows on the taller section are four-pane sashes, also with bordered, herring-bone toolled lintels. All windows have stone sills. A raised eaves band is visible on the taller section, and there are coped gables and moulded kneelers. Corniced stacks are positioned at the end of the taller section, and a left end stack is present on the lower section.
