Description
North York Moors Railway Bridge Number 31 and the attached abutment walls were built around 1860 for the North Eastern Railway Company. The bridge is constructed from rock-faced sandstone and features cast iron railings. It has a single span that is skewed, with a semicircular arch made of shaped voussoirs and imposts. The design includes a moulded cornice and a plain parapet with sloped coping, topped with horizontal railings. The terminal piers have shallow pyramidal caps, and the curving abutments serve as retaining walls, sloping up on the downstream side.
