Description

Cliff Cottage is a house that likely dates from the early 17th century. It is constructed of roughly-tooled coursed sandstone with weathered quoins, and the first floor is partly rendered. The roof is pantiled, featuring stone copings and kneelers, along with brick stacks. The main house has two storeys and two bays, while the left part is one storey raised to two, consisting of one bay and a one-storey extension on the left.

In the main house, there is a blocked, chamfered doorway to the left of the center, and a modern boarded door in the left part. To the left of the blocked doorway, there is a four-pane casement window, and to the right, a small sash window. The first floor of the main house jetties out on close-set beams with curved ends, with the left bay being blank. The right bay is connected by an enclosed first-floor bridge section to a wall overlooking the sea, which may have once been the inner wall of a garden that has since been lost.

There is a chamfered doorway at the first-floor level in the one-bay gable end of the bridge section, which was likely intended as a gazebo. The left section has a small sash window to the left of the door, a late 19th-century sash window on the first floor, and a modern casement window in the extension. Additionally, there is a blocked stone-mullioned window in the right return gable.
