Description
The Vicarage is a vicarage built in 1850, likely designed by William Butterfield. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a purple slate roof with stone chimneys. The entrance front has two tall storeys and three bays, with a one-bay section on the left that contains a Tudor-arched, ledged-and-boarded door with long hinges. The central bay has a similar door beneath a three-light mullioned-and-transomed window with Tudor-arched heads. The left bay features similar windows with square heads, with the upper window located under a coped half-dormer. The right bay includes a projecting chimney breast. The door surrounds are hollow-chamfered, and the eaves are coved. The high-pitched roof has ridged gable copings and corniced, stepped chimneys.
The garden front, on the right return, has three irregular bays, with the left bay being gabled and projecting. A similar door with elaborate hinges is located in the center, beneath a triple overlight. Above and to the right is a two-light window under a gabled half-dormer. On the ground floor to the right is a three-light window, and there is a carved armorial panel above a blank wall. The left bay contains three- and four-light windows with Tudor-arched heads, and all windows have hoodmoulds with diamond label stops.
The twin-gabled rear elevation exhibits similar architectural features.
