Description
Rock Head Cottage is a Grade II listed building, likely dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with various toolings and features a pantiled roof with a stone ridge, copings, and kneelers, along with rebuilt brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has three narrow bays.
On the right side, there is a projecting lean-to porch that includes a small front window and a boarded door on the left side. To the left, there is a later 19th-century one-bar casement window. The first floor has a modern three-light small-paned casement window in the center, a four-pane fixed light with a single opening pane on the left, and a small modern casement window on the right, which may have replaced what was originally a five-window opening. The building has end chimneys and block kneelers, with a further lower pent extension beyond the porch. The left return is blank.
The rear elevation features a blocked door with a small window inserted on the left side. On the right side, there are three-light small-paned modern casements on the first floor, set in original openings that have wedge lintels and raised keystones, with the ground floor having a triple window and stone cills.
