Description
Old Mulgrave Castle is a Grade I listed structure featuring a keep and bailey walls, with a gatehouse. The castle dates from the 12th century, with additions from the 13th century and alterations made in the 16th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone. The gatehouse includes twin half-round towers, while the keep is notable for its four round angle towers and 16th-century stone mullioned-pad-transomed windows. The castle is currently in a ruinous condition. It is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
