Description
Middle Farmhouse is a house built in 1753, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of hammer-dressed limestone and has a pantile roof. The building follows a 3-cell hearth-passage plan and stands two storeys high, featuring four windows on the first floor. The entrance has a board door with two casements to the left and one to the right. Above the door is the datestone marked "W S." The first-floor casements date from 1753, except for a fixed window located above the door. The house has flat arches throughout, sprocketed eaves, gable coping, shaped kneelers, and both end and ridge stacks. Inside, there is evidence of a timber-hooded chimney, and the doors retain their original strap hinges set in moulded architraves. The roof includes a re-used half-cruck truss.
