Description
Seacote is a house located on Cliff Street in Robin Hood's Bay, dating from the 17th century and significantly altered over time. The ground floor is constructed of worn coursed stone, while the upper floor features a rendered timber frame and a rendered plinth. The roof is pantiled, with stone coping and a kneeler, along with a rendered chimney stack. The building has two storeys and consists of one wide bay with a rounded right corner. There is a modern door on the ground floor, accompanied by a very small 12-pane sash window to the right. The jetty beams have shaped ends, and the upper floor is mostly blank, except for a small modern window located under the eaves on the right side. The right end has a chimney and coping on a small curved kneeler. The rear elevation, facing the sea, features a stone half-bay with a small externally-shuttered window, likely a fire window, along with a plain back door and small modern casements. Inside, the fireplace has been rebuilt, and the ground floor ceiling beams have been strengthened longitudinally on the seaward side, possibly to support the jetty, which is now underbuilt.
