Description
Ramsdale South Farmhouse and its attached outbuildings date from the early 19th century, with the outbuildings possibly from the 18th century. The farmhouse is constructed from coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a pantiled roof with stone ridge, chimneys, copings, and kneelers. It stands two storeys high with three wide windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, flanked by 20-pane sash windows on both floors, and a 16-pane sash window above the door. The gable copings are supported by large curved kneelers, and there is a corniced stack at the right end, while the left end stack is raised in cement.
The left outhouse is a single storey with two windows and plain fixed lights. The right barn is also single storey with a loft, comprising three bays and a lower fourth end bay. It features stable doors in the centre of the left part and in the end bay, a boarded loft door to the right, and a pattern of slit vents. The barn has stepped eaves and block kneelers. The rear of the building shows smaller windows, one of which has been altered, and there is a stone loft stair at the left end, along with an inserted garage door.
The front yard wall for the house and left outhouse is built from four courses of large stones with a half-round coping. There are pairs of monolith gate piers at the centre and each end of the wall.
