Description

Ramsdale House and the adjoining stable are a farmhouse and stable built in the late 18th century and early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed and squared rubble and brick, with a rendered finish. They feature hipped and gabled roofs made of concrete tiles and 20th-century pantiles, and have an ashlar plinth. There are six side wall stacks, and the structure is L-shaped, comprising three bays and standing three to two storeys high.

The south front includes a central flat-roofed Doric portico with a moulded doorcase and a mid-19th-century half-glazed door topped with a fanlight. This entrance is flanked by mid-20th-century French windows with overlights. To the left of the portico, there is a ramped buttress, and above it are three glazing bar sashes on each floor.

The east side and rear wing have a lean-to outbuilding, with a blocked opening on the left and five casements on the right. Above, there are three sashes and a casement, with an additional sash above that. The return angle of the rear wing features a mid-20th-century glazed porch to the left and a casement to the right, with a flush mullioned casement from the 18th century above.

On the north side, there is a lean-to single-storey addition to the right, with irregular 20th-century fenestration. The main block has late 19th-century gabled and lean-to additions, which are single and two storeys high, featuring two sashes and an additional sash above to the left and right.

The west side includes a flush mullioned casement, flanked by a door on the left and a casement on the right. Further right, there is a sash and a door, with a casement above flanked by one flush mullioned casement on the left and two on the right.

The adjoining stable, which has a slate roof, consists of nine bays. The south side features a casement and door on the east. The north side has an off-centre opening flanked by two doors and a slatted casement on the left, and two doors and two slatted casements on the right.

Inside, there is a framed dogleg stair, two mid-19th-century fireplaces, six panelled doors, and three 18th-century plank doors.
