Description

The mile post located south of the entrance to St Ives Farm dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with a forward-sloping triangular top. The left face of the post displays the distance to Scarborough as 14 miles, while the right face shows the distance to Whitby as 7 miles. Above each distance, there are relief trees, and the top panel features the inscription "WHITBY STRAND UD." The post is painted white, with the lettering and design highlighted in black.
