Description
The Rectory is a mid-17th century building that was partly rebuilt in the mid-18th century, with early and mid-19th century extensions on the left side. An outhouse and garage were added around 1970 when rear and right extensions were demolished. The structure is made of chevron-tooled dressed sandstone and features Welsh slate roofs with stone ridge and gable copings. The original rectory and its extensions form an "H"-plan and consist of two storeys and an attic.
The garden front has three bays, with a glazed door added in 1976 on the left side of the middle section. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, featuring six panes on the first floor and projecting sills. The older gabled wing on the right has a chamfered plinth and horizontal sash windows, which have been altered to casements on the ground floor, along with keyed lintels. There is also a six-pane sash window in the gable. The later gabled wing on the left has a 20-pane sash window on the ground floor and a 16-pane sash window on the first floor.
Adjoining the right end is a single-storey outhouse and garage that are in keeping with the main building. The structure has ridge and end stacks. The inner return of the older wing features a renewed sash window in a chamfered opening on the ground floor and a blocked first-floor opening with a 17th-century lintel. The rear of the rectory has been altered but remains in keeping with the overall design. The rear doorway of the outhouse has a re-used chamfered lintel inscribed "S.T. 1667". Inside the centre section, there are panelled window shutters, six-panel doors, and architraves.
