Description
Laburnum House is a late 18th-century bookshop located on the east side of The Square in Hawkshead. The building is constructed of roughcast stone and features a slate roof that is hipped at one end. The rear wall is made of stone rubble and has quoins. It stands three storeys high and has two bays. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, with three on the ground floor, two of which have horns.
The left side of the building has an entrance with a glazed door and an overlight with glazing bars, along with a sashed window above and a lateral stack. The rear of the building faces Main Street and is gabled, with windows that have stone lintels; most of these windows feature small-paned fixed glazing with opening top lights. There is also an attic casement window and two entrances with glazed doors.
