Description
The former bank, Bank House and Flat in Hawkshead is likely from the early 19th century, with some later alterations. It features a roughcast exterior and a slate roof, with some slate hanging on the left side. The building is two storeys high and has six bays. The windows are sashed with glazing bars and horns. The ground floor's first three bays served as the bank's frontage, showcasing fluted flat pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. Large windows with small-paned glazing flank the entrance, which has a 6-fielded-panel door. The entrance in the second bay is framed by an architrave, frieze, and pediment, also featuring a 6-fielded-panel door. The building has a cross-axial stack and gable-end stacks. The left side has bargeboards and two sashed windows, while the right side has one sashed window. The rear has two bays that project forward, with all windows being sashed with glazing bars but no horns. There is an entrance to the flat on the first floor.
