Description

Tower Bank House is an early 19th-century house located near Sawrey. It is built of roughcast stone and features slate roofs. The house has two storeys and three bays, with a one-storey recessed gabled bay on the left and a two-storey recessed gabled bay on the right. The windows are sashed, with horns on the ground floor windows and glazing bars on the first floor. The left recessed bay includes a round-headed recess with a blocked lunette featuring intersecting glazing bars, while the right recessed bay has a first-floor round-headed sashed window with glazing bars intersecting at the top. The house has gable-end stacks. The entrance features a fanlight and a half-glazed door, along with a later gabled porch that has reeded angle pilasters. The rear of the house contains sashed windows and two windows with small-paned fixed glazing that includes opening lights. Inside, the property has enriched cornices. Tower Bank House is owned by the National Trust and was a gift from Beatrix Potter.
