Description

The barn located to the north-east of Tower Bank House is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1740, with an additional wing added around 1812. It is constructed of stone rubble with large quoins and features slate roofs. The south elevation includes a small gabled wing on the right side, three cow house doors with ventilation slots, and a stable door situated under a pentice. Above these, there is a winnowing door along with several ventilation slots, some of which are cruciform in shape. The wing features end casements and an entrance to the return, with a lateral stack on the right return. There is also a small later lean-to outshut on the left return. The rear of the barn has pivoted doors under a pentice. Inside, the barn contains cow house partitions and stable partitions, which were previously equipped with chutes for feeding from the barn, as well as a corn bin. This property is owned by The National Trust.
