Description
Wood Hall and adjoining barns are a farmhouse and barns built in the early 19th century. The structure features coursed mixed rubble and cobbles with red sandstone pilastered quoins, topped with greenslate roofs and stone chimney stacks. The farmhouse is two stories high and has four bays, with a right-angled barn to the left and a lower L-shaped barn to the right, creating an overall U-shape. The entrance includes a panelled door beneath a radial fanlight, framed by a pilastered surround with a false keystone. The sash windows have glazing bars and are set in painted stone surrounds. The barn on the left has an end door and a loft door above it. The barn on the right features a large projecting cart entrance and a segmental entrance to the left, which is now partly blocked and has been converted into a 20th-century window. There are slit vents and a loft door above this barn. The shippon to the right has a corrugated asbestos roof, and the right-angled extension includes a ramp leading to the loft cart entrance, with an additional door to the left and oval vents above.
