Description
Spout House is a house dated 1679, as indicated by a plaque in the first-floor room. It is constructed of roughcast stone with a slate roof, and there is a stone rubble outhouse attached to the right gable end. The house has two storeys and two bays. The first bay on the ground floor features small-paned fixed glazing with an opening pane, while the second bay has a casement window with a timber lintel and drip course. The first-floor windows also have small-paned fixed glazing with a pivoted upper half. The entrance is sheltered by a slate gabled hood and has a wide-boarded door. There is a gable-end stack for the chimney. The outhouse includes a gable-end stack and a large entrance. The left side of the house has two 20th-century windows on the first floor. At the rear, there is a small lean-to outshut with an entrance and a four-light wooden chamfered mullioned window to the right. The first floor has three casement windows, two of which have timber lintels. Inside, there are some plank and mullion partitions, as well as stud and plaster partitions on the first floor. The loft features collar and tie beam trusses with lath partitioning and doorways.
