Description
Allan Bank, built in 1805, is a two-storey house with low proportions located in Grasmere. The Wordsworth family rented this house and lived here from 1808 to 1811, hosting notable visitors such as Thomas de Quincey, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Sara Hutchinson. The house underwent alterations around 1834 by the next owner. It features scored stucco on the exterior and a slate roof. The entrance front includes a gabled porch and a central gabled section with two sash windows on each floor, adorned with moulded labels. The side wings each have two sash windows on each floor, although the left wing includes a porch. The windows have been renewed and now have fewer glazing bars.
