Description

The building known as the Pound on Common is likely from the 18th century and is located approximately 60 meters from the road in Broughton East Field. It is constructed of stone rubble and features an oval plan enclosure that measures about 8 meters by 11 meters. The walls stand approximately 2 meters high and are topped with limestone coping. There is an opening on the south-west side, which includes limestone quoins and one stone gate post. This pound was in use until 1796, when the common land was enclosed.
