Description
The Northern Boathouse at Fell Foot Park is a boathouse built in 1869. It is constructed of coursed slate rubble and features a slate roof. The main boat entrance is Tudor arched and includes a timber portcullis and doors, flanked by turrets that have slots and projecting embattled parapets. The gable is embattled and has a raised embattled panel. To the right, there is a short wall. The rear of the building has an entrance and an adjoining shed to the right. In front, there is a platform with a ramp leading to the center. This boathouse is part of a group built for Colonel G.J.M. Ridehalgh, who was a member of the first sailing committee of the Windermere Sailing Club from 1854 and one of the founders of the Royal Windermere Yacht Club; the original house on the site was demolished.
